Discover Imperial Cities and Atlas mountains Varied activities from cooking to mule rides Guaranteed single room at hotels and riads
Imperial Cities and Middle Atlas Beginning in Fes, the world's most complete Islamic medieval city, we explore the souks and crowded alleyways of its ancient medina in Fes el Bali. We'll also be guided by a cook who will advise us on buying food and ingredients which we'll use during a cookery lesson later in the afternoon to make a traditional Moroccan dish. Taking a break from the bustle of Fes we'll head into the Middle Atlas mountains for a day to walk among the tranquil lakes and cedar forests of this stunning region with a picnic lunch on the way. From Fes a stunning rail journey then takes us far south via Casablanca to Marrakech, one of the world's most evocative cities, before we head into the High Atlas mountains.
Berber Villages and Marrakech We base ourselves at a riad in the traditional berber village of Imlil, nestling at the confluence of three valleys and surrounded by high mountain peaks. There's plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, taking lunch at a village house and a hike and mule ride to the tiny settlement of Sidi Chamharouch and we'll also learn the art of making Moroccan mint tea along the way. Next it's onto the southern slopes of the Atlas and a night under canvas with a chance to try our hand at a range of berber pastimes from bowling to shotput! For the adventurous you can even try the rope swings and zip-lining (optional). Finally we end in the 'Red City' of Marrakech exploring the souks, medina and monuments before a final, farewell dinner.
